DJ Chicken arraigned for allegedly threatening Seyi Tinubu

Social media personality Abiodun Ademola, widely known as DJ Chicken, appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates' Court on Friday to face charges of allegedly threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu. The 37-year-old, residing in Lekki, Lagos, is accused of making threats to life, publishing offensive content online, and engaging in conduct likely to breach the peace. Prosecutors allege that the offenses occurred on July 5th in Lekki, Lagos. Ademola purportedly posted videos on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, @djchicken, containing explicit threats against Seyi Tinubu. The prosecution claims these posts were intended to instill fear and were circulated on social media platforms. Additionally, police allege Ademola posted a grossly offensive and menacing video on Instagram, violating the Cybercrimes Act of 2015. The charges also state that Ademola threatened Seyi Tinubu, contingent on President Bola Tinubu's participation or victory in the 2027 presidential election. Prosecutors contend that Ademola's actions could disturb public order and breach the peace, contravening sections of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrimes Act. Mr. Ademola pleaded not guilty to all charges before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi. The magistrate granted him bail set at ₦1 million, requiring two sureties of equal value. One surety must be a blood relative of Ademola, while the second must be a recognized community leader or clergyman. Both sureties are required to provide proof of three years of tax payments and LASTRA verification to fulfill the bail conditions. The court has adjourned the case to August 3rd for further hearing.
