Djurgården climbs to European spot after crushing Västerås 6-0

Djurgården dominated their match against Västerås, securing a resounding 6-0 victory that propelled them into third place in the Allsvenskan standings. This crucial win positions the Stockholm club firmly within the coveted European qualification spots.

The decisive win was effectively sealed within the first 30 minutes, with Patric Åslund, Kristian Lien, and Adam Ståhl all finding the net to establish a commanding 3-0 lead. Västerås, known as VSK, was unable to recover from this early onslaught.

Kristian Lien continued his impressive performance in the second half, scoring twice more to extend Djurgården's lead to 5-0. Following this fifth goal, the visiting VSK supporters reacted by setting off pyrotechnics, causing the referee, Victor Wolf, to suspend the game for approximately ten minutes.

Miro Theno then completed the rout with a headed goal, finalizing the score at 6-0. The victory sees Djurgården climb the league table, while Västerås currently sits in seventh place.
