Dog dragged by owner's truck dies in Mexico; owner faces charges

A 14-year-old dog named Rocky has died in Saltillo, Mexico, after suffering severe injuries from being repeatedly dragged by his owner's truck. The incident, which occurred on July 18 in the Villa San Miguel neighborhood, ignited public fury and widespread demands for justice.

Despite receiving intensive care at the Pets Care Saltillo veterinary hospital, Rocky succumbed to his injuries on July 22. Dignidad Animal A.C., an animal welfare organization that reported the case, confirmed Rocky's death with deep sadness, stating, "No animal deserves to suffer in this way."

Video footage showed the owner, identified as Liliana 'N', running over Rocky with her truck on at least three occasions. The cruelty witnessed by neighbors and shared widely on social media prompted a swift public outcry. Following media pressure, local authorities detained Jorge 'N' for obstructing the investigation and later brought Liliana 'N' before a control judge. Local media report she has already been formally charged in connection with the dog's death.
