Domestic helper arrested for stealing 20 laptops from Ho Chi Minh City company

In Ho Chi Minh City, a case of internal theft has shaken a local company, highlighting vulnerabilities even within trusted staff.

Trần Thị Yến, a domestic helper at Sen Vàng Technology Development Investment Co., Ltd., has been apprehended by Long Trường Ward Police for the alleged theft of 20 laptops. The incident came to light when the company's security system mysteriously went offline, prompting an investigation that revealed the theft.

Before the evidence, Tran Thi Yen admitted to the act of repeatedly stealing laptops from the company.

Yến reportedly confessed to exploiting the company's lack of oversight, stealing the laptops on three separate occasions in March and early April. She then pawned most of the devices across various shops in the city to fund her personal expenses, keeping only one for herself.

This incident serves as a stark reminder for businesses, especially smaller enterprises, to reinforce their security measures and internal controls. While the police have successfully recovered all the stolen property, the case underscores the need for constant vigilance against internal threats.
