Dominican Armed Forces Send 50 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Colombia After Earthquake

The Dominican Republic has dispatched 50 tons of humanitarian aid to Colombia aboard its navy’s flagship patrol vessel, the PA-301 Almirante Didiez Burgos.

The ship left the Sans Souci Naval Station carrying 110,530 pounds of supplies, equivalent to 49,735 kilograms or 50.1 tons. The cargo includes emergency food, tools, medicines, medical materials and household hygiene products.

The donations came through a collection center established by the Armed Forces at the 27 de Febrero Naval Base. Public and private institutions, companies, organizations and individual citizens contributed supplies for communities affected by the earthquake.

Military personnel received, sorted, organized and prepared the donations for transport. The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces coordinated the operation as part of the Dominican government’s emergency response.

The navy’s involvement will also allow the supplies to be delivered using the country’s maritime logistics and transport capabilities. The Armed Forces described the shipment as an expression of solidarity from the Dominican people and a reaffirmation of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
