Dominican Congress Leaders Ricardo de los Santos and Alfredo Pacheco Reappointed

Ricardo de los Santos and Alfredo Pacheco will continue to lead the Dominican Republic's Senate and Chamber of Deputies, respectively, following their unanimous reappointment by the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). The decision by the PRM's Executive Directorate confirms them in their roles for the legislative term commencing August 16.

The party highlighted the experience, consensus-building capabilities, and institutional leadership demonstrated by both De los Santos and Pacheco. It noted that their tenures have been characterized by dialogue with various political forces and a focus on achieving consensus to advance legislative initiatives.

De los Santos, representing Sánchez Ramírez province, will serve his third consecutive term as Senate president. Pacheco has presided over the Chamber of Deputies since August 2020. The new leadership teams for both chambers were also confirmed, with specific vice presidents and secretaries appointed.

Looking ahead, the PRM has already designated a successor for the Senate presidency in 2027. Senator Alexis Victoria Yeb is slated to replace De los Santos, with Daniel Rivera expected to assume the vice presidency of the Upper House. The official installation of the new legislative leadership is scheduled for August 16.
