Dominican government freezes fuel prices, adjusts others for upcoming week

The Dominican government has announced a decision to freeze the prices of key fuels for the upcoming week, from August 29 to September 4. This measure aims to stabilize costs for consumers amidst fluctuating international oil markets. Premium gasoline will continue to be sold at 341.10 pesos per gallon, and regular gasoline at 310.50 pesos, maintaining their current prices without variation.

Similarly, the prices for regular diesel will remain at 262.80 pesos per gallon, and optimal diesel at 293.10 pesos, also frozen for the week. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be available at 135.20 pesos per gallon, and natural gas at 43.97 pesos per cubic meter, with no changes to their current costs.

In addition to the price freezes, the government has implemented some adjustments. The price of avtur will decrease by 6.27 pesos, selling at 291.22 pesos per gallon, and kerosene will be reduced by 7.00 pesos, priced at 329.70 pesos. Conversely, fuel oil number six will see a slight increase of 30 centavos, priced at 166.26 pesos, and fuel oil 1%s will increase by 1.99 pesos, selling at 195.95 pesos.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Mipymes (MICM) reported that the Dominican government has allocated 1,209.1 million pesos towards fuel subsidies. This financial support is intended to further mitigate the impact of rising petroleum derivative prices on the international market and cushion the effect on domestic consumers.
