Dominican man's body found in truck at Migration Directorate

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in the Dominican Republic reported the discovery of a decomposing body inside a truck at its parking lot. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Dominican national Nelson de los Santos, known as "Gualey," was a street vendor and car washer who frequented the area.

The body was found after a worker alerted security personnel to a strong smell from the truck, which had been parked for approximately 10 days awaiting repairs. Police and forensic specialists were called to the scene. The truck was towed to the morgue for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

De los Santos was last seen in the area five days prior. His family confirmed he had a history of substance abuse and had repeatedly urged him to seek rehabilitation, which he refused. The DGM stated that authorities are investigating how he entered the truck and the circumstances surrounding his death.

The DGM also noted its ongoing construction of a perimeter fence around its headquarters, a measure deemed necessary by a risk assessment to enhance security and control access to the facilities. The agency pledged full cooperation with the Public Ministry and the National Police to resolve the case.
