Dominican Merengue Icon Alex Bueno Dies at 62

Dominican singer Alex Bueno, a celebrated icon of merengue and bachata music, has died at the age of 62. He passed away in New York City following complications that arose during his treatment for cancer.

Bueno was diagnosed with a small brain tumor in September 2025 and subsequently traveled to the United States for surgery. Although the initial procedure to remove the tumor was successful, doctors later detected cancer cells in other parts of his body, leading to a preventive treatment.
