Dominican President Abinader Launches Weekly Press Briefings

President Luis Abinader has launched a new government communication initiative, "LA Agenda Semanal," which will include weekly press conferences to address national issues and public policies. The first session, held Monday evening, focused on the education sector and featured the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps.

Abinader explained that these press conferences, scheduled for every Monday at 5:00 p.m., aim to provide journalists accredited to the National Palace with direct access to officials responsible for key government decisions. The format will also allow participation from other media professionals, civil society representatives, and citizens connected to current topics.

"Today, there will be people from the community who have questions about situations they feel, but on other occasions, there will also be the press and people from civil society who can come, and whom we will also convene to participate in this Weekly Agenda, every Monday, I repeat, at 5:00 in the afternoon," the president stated.

The inaugural session delved into education, aligning with the start of the school year. Minister De Camps, along with several vice ministers and directors from the Ministry of Education and related agencies, presented on four key areas: school year preparation, infrastructure and well-being, educational quality, and future-oriented education. The event also highlighted the distribution of educational materials and the ministry's ongoing efforts to ensure student attendance and engagement.
