Dominican Republic opens period for objections to Supreme Court judges' performance reports

The National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) in the Dominican Republic has initiated a public review of the performance of 11 Supreme Court judges. A period for objections is now open, allowing interested parties to scrutinize the judges' records. These performance reports are accessible on the CNM's official portal.

The evaluation process, mandated by Law 138-11 and its associated regulations, is a critical step for assessing the magistrates who have served for seven years. Objections can be filed until August 14, 2026. This provides a structured mechanism for public input into the judicial system's accountability.

Among the judges under review are prominent figures like the Supreme Court's president, Luis Henry Molina Peña, and others such as Manuel R. Herrera Carbuccia, Nancy I. Salcedo Fernández, and Francisco A. Jerez Mena. Notably, several judges, including Molina Peña and Herrera Carbuccia, have reportedly shown disinterest in the evaluation process.

Submissions for objections can be made electronically to secretariacnm@poderjudicial.gob.do or physically at the CNM's secretariat. The CNM aims to ensure transparency and public participation in the evaluation of its judiciary.
