Dominican Republic's PRM launches "Hablemos PRM" initiative for party strengthening

An initiative named "Hablemos PRM" has been introduced, aiming to bolster the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) by revitalizing its structures, enhancing internal participation, and fostering closer ties with communities. This project emerged after several months of dialogues, assemblies, and meetings held in various provinces across the Dominican Republic.

During these consultations, party leaders, legislators, and officials engaged with neighborhood associations, community leaders, sports clubs, social organizations, and PRM militants. The goal was to gather concerns, criticisms, and proposals. The resulting document outlines plans to strengthen internal participation mechanisms, reform party structures, create more opportunities for young people and women, improve communication with the grassroots, and ensure political decisions reflect the country's evolving social, economic, and technological landscapes.

Proponents of the initiative emphasize that the PRM's future hinges on its ability to maintain continuous dialogue with citizens, interpret societal changes, and translate these demands into concrete proposals and public policies. The national consultation process concluded in San Cristóbal, where participants reaffirmed the importance of preserving party unity and reinforcing its community presence.

Key proposals include maintaining internal cohesion, strengthening participation, renewing structures, expanding spaces for youth and women, improving base communication, and ensuring political decisions align with current realities. Eduardo "Yayo" Sanz Lovatón, Minister of Industry and Commerce, urged attendees to prioritize collective interests over individual ambitions. Gloria Reyes stated that the process transformed gathered concerns into tangible commitments to improve the relationship between leadership, militants, and communities. The document has been submitted to the PRM's leadership and made available to the public.
