Dominican Republic's Queens of the Caribbean win volleyball gold at Central American Games

The Dominican Republic's "Reinas del Caribe" (Queens of the Caribbean) secured the gold medal at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. They defeated Colombia 3-0 in the final, held at the Ricardo "Gioriver" Arias Volleyball Palace. The team dominated the match with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21, completing the tournament undefeated.

The Dominican team showcased consistent performance in both attack and service throughout the competition, marking their seventh consecutive victory. Gaila González led the offense with 13 points, supported by Brayelin Martínez and Jineiry Martínez, who each contributed seven points. For Colombia, Daniela Montaño was the top scorer with 14 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the home team's dominance.

A key factor in the match was the service game, where the Dominican Republic scored five direct points compared to Colombia's one. The victory, achieved in 1 hour and 15 minutes, was celebrated by a full house at the venue, reinforcing the Dominican Republic's regional volleyball supremacy. The team had previously won Group A undefeated and advanced directly to the semifinals, ultimately clinching another gold medal for the host nation.
