The quartet blazed across the finish line with an exact time of 43 seconds, establishing a new regional record for the event. Cuba took the silver medal and Puerto Rico the bronze, both finishing with identical times of 43.41 seconds, with Cuba edging Puerto Rico by a thousandth of a second in a photo finish.

For Liranyi Alonso, this victory marked her fourth gold medal in athletics at these games. She had previously won gold in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and the mixed 4x100m relay.
