Dompu Regency and PT STM Strengthen Community Economic Empowerment Program

The Dompu Regency Government and PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) have formalized a significant partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM). This five-year initiative, set to run from 2026 to 2031, aims to bolster economic opportunities and community well-being in areas surrounding STM's Hu'u Project.

Although STM has not yet produced (operational production), there are efforts to embrace and observe the conditions of our community's empowerment. Starting from education, economy, MSMEs, to social and cultural aspects.

The comprehensive PPM framework will address eight critical sectors: education, health, income generation and employment, economic independence, environmental conservation, socio-cultural development, community institutional strengthening, and supporting infrastructure. This strategic alignment is designed to integrate STM's empowerment efforts with the Dompu Regency's own development goals, fostering regional growth and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Dompu Regent Bambang Firdaus emphasized the importance of such collaborations, stating, "Although STM has not yet produced (operational production), there are efforts to embrace and observe the conditions of our community's empowerment. Starting from education, economy, MSMEs, to social and cultural aspects." He highlighted that realizing the "Dompu Maju" vision requires collective effort and active participation in leveraging the region's potential.

We must realize that we need others to help manage the potential we have to realize our shared aspirations. Dompu Maju will only become a mere slogan if we do not implement what our potential is today.

Community Relations Manager at STM, Ulya Defretes, noted that this MoU builds upon an existing synergy between the company and the regency. "Before this latest agreement, STM and the Dompu Regency Government have always synergized to build the region through various programs. This MoU further strengthens that synergy, with the hope of providing even better positive impacts for the community," she said. In 2025 alone, STM's PPM programs reached over 21,115 beneficiaries with an approximate value of Rp 9.1 billion, demonstrating a strong track record of community engagement.
