Donald Trump's Scotland golf course vandalized; prosecutors cite 'terrorism link'

Seven people are facing charges for allegedly vandalizing Donald Trump's luxury golf resort, Trump Turnberry, on Scotland's west coast. The incident, which occurred on March 8 of last year, involved extensive damage to the property, including graffiti, herbicide application, and destruction of irrigation systems.

Prosecutors have indicated that the alleged vandalism may have a 'link to terrorism,' a serious allegation that suggests a potential political or ideological motive behind the destruction. The accused, aged between 22 and 58, are scheduled to appear in court on August 31st to face the charges.

According to court documents, the extensive damage included digging up parts of the turf, spraying herbicide on fairways and greens, painting buildings and signs, inscribing political slogans on the course and structures, and causing flooding by damaging the irrigation system. One light fixture was also reportedly destroyed.

Following the incident, Scottish authorities assured Eric Trump, son of the former president, that the investigation would be treated with seriousness. Turnberry is a renowned golf destination, having hosted the prestigious Open Championship four times on its famed Ailsa course. Donald Trump acquired the resort in 2014.
