Donating 500cc of Blood Earns an Electric Fan: Baishatun Charity Event Draws Enthusiastic Donors Despite Rain

The Baishatun Charity Association marked its 10th anniversary of organizing blood donation drives with a successful event on August 9th. Despite a forecast of potential disruption from Typhoon Baishatun, the weather in Changhua only brought light winds and rain, allowing the event to proceed as planned outside Changhua Railway Station.

Being able to donate blood for a while and get an electric fan is great in the sweltering summer.

Following tradition, donors who contribute 500cc of blood receive an electric fan, and those donating 250cc are given a 300 NT dollar gift certificate. This long-standing incentive has built a strong reputation, drawing a crowd of eager donors who queued up early in the morning.

We were worried that Typhoon Baishatun might disrupt the event, but fortunately, it only brought light winds and rain to the Changhua area, allowing today's blood donation event in front of Changhua Railway Station to proceed smoothly.

This year's 10th-anniversary milestone saw the deployment of two blood donation vehicles to bolster blood bank supplies. Liu Bao-lian, the founding chairman of the association, expressed gratitude for the sustained support from enthusiastic citizens and the selfless dedication of volunteers. He highlighted the consistent turnout from familiar faces, whose continued commitment makes the event possible, even on rainy days, inspiring deep emotion.
