Dong Thap Urges Faster Repairs on National Highway 30 to Border Gate

Dong Thap province is pressing for accelerated repairs on National Highway 30, a critical artery connecting to the Dinh Ba international border gate. The provincial Department of Construction has sent multiple requests to the IV Road Management Department, urging contractors to fix the deteriorating road segment in Tan Hong commune.

The highway is heavily used by large trucks, and the onset of the rainy season has intensified concerns about safety. The Department of Construction noted severe damage, including displaced concrete retaining walls and slopes, which risk landslides and structural failure. This compromised integrity endangers both the road infrastructure and the safety of people and vehicles using it.

Residents and road managers report that incomplete drainage systems are causing water to pool on the road surface. This standing water, combined with heavy vehicle traffic, leads to widespread potholes, cracks, and muddy conditions. These issues not only disrupt daily life and the environment but also create significant safety hazards for commuters.

The Department of Construction specifically requested the IV Road Management Department to direct contractors to implement safety measures. They also urged immediate action to clear road drainage, repair potholes, and complete the road surface and side ditches according to design specifications. The province aims to ensure the safety and stability of the road, especially as the rainy season progresses.
