Dongfeng Nammi Vigo E2 electric SUV launched in Nepal at Rs 3.59 million

MAW Motors has introduced the Dongfeng Nammi Vigo E2 electric SUV to the Nepali market, pricing it at Rs 3.599 million. The authorized distributor unveiled the vehicle at an event in Lalitpur, positioning it as a full-fledged SUV designed for family use, capable of handling Nepal's diverse and often challenging landscapes.

We discussed whether to retain the difference from the duty changes as company profit or pass it on to customers. In line with our values, we chose to prioritise customers and introduce the vehicle at a special price.

Company Managing Director Bishnu Kumar Agrawal stated that the decision to offer the vehicle at a competitive introductory price was driven by a desire to pass on the benefits of recent changes in the government's duty structure directly to consumers. He highlighted the vehicle's proven performance in demanding terrains, citing its successful journeys to locations like Manang, Mustang, and Solukhumbu. Agrawal also pointed to a customer who has driven over 80,000 kilometers in two years as testament to the Vigo E2's durability.

The Nammi Vigo E2 features a 95kW electric motor and a 52.3kWh battery, offering a claimed driving range of up to 430 kilometers on a single charge. It supports fast charging, capable of reaching 80% capacity from 30% in approximately 18 minutes with a compatible DC charger. With a ground clearance of 185–190mm, the SUV is designed for both urban commuting and rougher, hilly routes.

Just as customers shifted from hatchbacks to SUVs in petrol vehicles, we are seeing the same transition in the EV segment.

Inside, the Vigo E2 boasts a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and features like ambient lighting synchronized with music, electric and ventilated front seats for enhanced comfort. Safety systems include ABS, EBD, traction control, and a rear camera. Agrawal anticipates the SUV segment, including EVs, will continue to grow in Nepal, with the Vigo E2 poised to play a significant role in the country's electric vehicle transition.
