Dongshi Hakka Culture Park to Begin Construction by Year-End, Restoring Old Train Station's Historic Look

Taichung City is set to revive the historic charm of the Dongshi old train station with a new cultural park. The city's Construction Bureau has finalized the contractor selection for the "Dongshi Hakka Culture Park Old Train Station and Surrounding Facilities Optimization Project." This initiative, backed by an approximately NT$84.61 million budget, aims to preserve Hakka culture and restore the former glory of the station.

Construction is slated to commence by the end of 2026, with a projected completion date in 2028. The project promises to recreate the historical appearance of the old Dongshi train station, a significant landmark for the region. The optimization efforts will extend to the surrounding facilities, creating a comprehensive cultural hub.
