Dortmund intensifies pursuit of Genk's Karetsas amid difficult negotiations

Borussia Dortmund is intensifying its efforts to sign promising 18-year-old attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas from Belgian club Genk. This marks a renewed push for the player, as initial discussions between the clubs had stalled.

Negotiations, however, remain challenging. Genk is holding firm on its valuation, demanding a transfer fee of up to €35 million for Karetsas. Despite the high price, Dortmund's new sporting director, Ole Book, has reportedly made the young Greek talent his top priority.

Book, who has prior experience navigating the Belgian market, sees Karetsas as a key target. Dortmund's pursuit is further fueled by the recent sale of Karim Adeyemi to Barcelona for a reported €32 million, which provides the club with necessary funds and creates a vacancy in the attacking midfield position.

Karetsas has also attracted interest from Italian club AC Milan, who were reportedly close to securing his signature recently. Dortmund's determination, coupled with their financial capacity and the player's potential, positions them as strong contenders in the race for the highly-rated teenager.
