Downpour: Several Houses Submerged as Floods Cut Off Awka-Onitsha Highway

Torrential downpours have triggered severe flooding in Ogidi, located in the Idemili North Local Government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The deluge, exacerbated by heavy rainfall early Monday morning, has resulted in numerous houses being submerged on both sides of the old Awka-Onitsha highway.

The rising floodwaters have rendered the highway impassable, effectively cutting off a vital transportation link. This disruption has significantly impacted the daily lives of residents in the affected areas, displacing many and causing considerable damage to property.

In response to the escalating crisis, local youths in Ogidi have issued an urgent appeal for intervention from national and state authorities. They are calling on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Chukwuma Soludo to take immediate action to address the flood situation and provide assistance to those affected by the disaster.
