DPP's New Taipei mayoral candidate forms first support group with hometown ties

Su Chiao-hui, the Democratic Progressive Party's candidate for New Taipei City mayor, celebrated the establishment of her first official campaign support group, the 'Pingtung Hometown Association Support Group.' The event, held near the New Taipei City Hall, marked a significant step in her electoral campaign.

Expressing her joy and gratitude, Su highlighted that this is the first support group formed for her campaign. She extended thanks to Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi and former magistrates Chou Chun-mi, Su Jia-chyuan, and Pan Men-an for their full backing. Su emphasized her pride in her Pingtung roots and her dedication to advocating for the county during her decade in the Legislative Yuan, citing achievements like the 'Air Conditioning for Every Classroom' initiative and the underground cabling of the Pingtung section of Provincial Highway 1. She expressed a strong desire to see her 'new hometown,' New Taipei City, undergo similar upgrades and progress.

When questioned about potential joint appearances with her father, former Premier Su Tseng-chang, Su Chiao-hui indicated that he remains a popular figure with a busy schedule. She confirmed that he will continue to attend various events and meet with old friends in New Taipei, welcoming invitations for his participation. Regarding future campaign plans, Su mentioned that the campaign is proceeding according to schedule, with numerous議員座談會 (councilor discussion sessions) and market visits already completed. She assured that more support groups would be formed and announced in due course, encouraging citizens to engage with the DPP's New Taipei team and their policy proposals.
