DPR Holds Plenary Session Opening, 287 Members Absent

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has officially commenced its fifth session for the 2025-2026 legislative period, marking the end of a month-long recess. The plenary session, presided over by Speaker Puan Maharani, saw a quorum achieved with 292 members present out of a total of 579, indicating a significant number of absences.

According to the records from the General Secretariat of the DPR RI, the attendance list at the beginning of today's DPR RI plenary session has been signed by 292 members from all factions.

She specifically pointed to the impact of global pressures, such as the depreciation of the Rupiah, escalating energy and fuel prices, increased logistics costs, and disruptions to national energy resilience stemming from global supply chain issues.
