Dragan Gagi Jovanović: Opposition must support students

Actor Dragan Gagi Jovanović has voiced strong support for students and citizens advocating for fundamental values, drawing parallels between their struggle and the preservation of culture and education. During a recent visit to Bela Palanka and Niš, Jovanović observed the cancellation of cultural festivals and the division of university faculties, which he described as a "divide and conquer" tactic. He expressed optimism that despite living in an "interim space," all that is valuable will eventually return, highlighting the need to fight for education from primary school onwards and restore the proper standing of teachers.

Jovanović believes that the current moment is critical for opposition parties to prove their commitment to politics. He stated that supporting the student movement is essential, as their fight is for fair elections and accountability, not for partisan gain. "This is not a fight for political parties. For me, this is a fight of good and evil, and it is not a time for any ideologies at all," he emphasized, calling it a primal struggle to achieve honest elections where the Serbian people can finally express their will.

While acknowledging that the path to free elections may involve further "unfree" elections, Jovanović remains hopeful. He described the current period as a transitional phase, comparing it to a battle between light and darkness. He stressed the importance of unity among those who oppose the current government, warning against internal calculations that could undermine their collective efforts. "We must unite, and people forget this. Some calculations have started that can break us, and that must not happen now, because we still need to achieve honest elections," he stated, expressing a desire for free elections to occur as soon as possible.
