‘Dragged, stabbed within 40 seconds’: Inside Faridabad teacher's brutal murder at school

A 30-year-old teacher was brutally stabbed to death inside a private school in Faridabad, India, by a man police identified as her alleged stalker. The attack, which lasted between 30 and 40 seconds, saw the assailant stab the victim, Sandhya Karhana, at least 25 times. The horrific incident was captured on CCTV, showing the man dragging the teacher from a classroom and attacking her in full view of students and staff.

Investigators said the accused, 21-year-old Amit, entered the school campus through the main gate around 9:35 a.m. The security guard was reportedly absent from his post, allowing the attacker to proceed unchecked. Police stated that the assailant approached students and a staff member, asking them to call Karhana outside by falsely claiming her husband had arrived to meet her. Witnesses confirmed the man knew her husband's name.

I initially thought someone had been electrocuted because of the rain. When I came out, I saw the man repeatedly stabbing Sandhya.

Approximately 300 to 350 students from various classes were present on campus during the attack. School director Tejpal Sharma recounted hearing screams and initially mistaking the sound for an electrical incident due to rain. Upon investigating, he witnessed the stabbing and attempted to intervene, but the assailant also threatened him before fleeing. Karhana was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

He attempted to stab me as well. I ran inside to get a stick while raising an alarm. By the time I returned, he had escaped.

Police arrested Amit within two hours of the attack, finding him still in his blood-stained clothes. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder. Police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav noted that the suspect's demeanor, including stretching before the attack, suggested premeditation.
