Robbery attempt at Indian men waiting in parking lot after 11 pm, multi-city chase by police in Texas

An attempted robbery unfolded in The Colony, Texas, when a gunman in a black Jeep threatened a group of Indian men waiting in a restaurant parking lot. The incident occurred on July 29, shortly after 11 p.m., as the men waited for their food orders outside Sheesh Eatery & Lounge. Surveillance footage shows the Jeep approaching the group, prompting them to flee before the driver lowered his window and demanded money at gunpoint.

Although the robbery attempt was unsuccessful, the victims reported the incident to the police. Officers were able to obtain the Jeep's license plate number from surveillance footage and entered it into a license plate reader system, identifying the suspect as 34-year-old Ryan Edward Drouin. None of the men were physically harmed during the encounter.

The subsequent hunt for Drouin led to a multi-city police chase across Texas. Drouin initially fled from Plano police, leading officers to his father's home, where he escaped again, initiating a vehicle pursuit. Later, Richardson officers spotted the Jeep and attempted a traffic stop, but Drouin refused to comply, leading to another chase that extended into Dallas.

During the pursuit in Dallas, Drouin fired at Richardson officers, who returned fire. The chase concluded near Alpha Road and Hughes Lane when Drouin's Jeep became disabled. Officers took him into custody at the scene. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported him to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Drouin has a documented criminal history, including prior arrests for making terroristic threats, burglary, and drug offenses, as well as a conviction for family violence assault.
