Dramatic rescue in China: Passerby catches falling 2-year-old girl

A dramatic rescue unfolded in Bozhou, China, as a passerby, Chu Liang, bravely intervened to catch a 2-year-old girl who fell from a height of approximately six meters. The astonishing moment was captured on camera, showing the child precariously close to the edge of a high ledge before her fall.

Witnessing the danger and hearing bystanders' shouts, Liang reacted instantly. Without hesitation, he positioned himself below the falling child and opened his arms. Although the girl slipped from his grasp after the initial impact, Liang's quick actions significantly cushioned her fall, preventing potentially fatal injuries.

Miraculously, the young girl sustained only a hairline fracture in her ankle. Liang, 39, believes his intervention absorbed a significant portion of the fall's energy. He experienced pain in his arm for about a day and also suffered from leg and back pain following the incident.

The girl's mother, identified as Ms. Wang, attempted to offer Liang money as a thank you, but he refused. He also initially wished to remain anonymous. Local media eventually revealed his identity. Wang expressed profound gratitude, stating, "Chu Liang saved my child, so of course I must thank him. Otherwise, I would feel terrible."

According to Wang, the incident occurred when the girl somehow managed to lock the front door from the inside. While Wang was searching for a key, her daughter apparently climbed out of a window and fell. Liang expressed regret that he couldn't hold onto the child completely, fearing she would have been uninjured if he had. He felt relieved upon learning she had not suffered serious harm.
