DRC Defense Minister Praises FARDC Professionalism in Kinshasa Market Cleanup

Vice Prime Minister Guy Kabombo lauded the professionalism of the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) during an operation to clear and secure the central market in Kinshasa. He expressed his satisfaction with their conduct on Thursday, May 28, following an inspection of the area.

Kabombo encouraged the soldiers to continue upholding discipline and firmness, acting as a professional republican army while remaining vigilant. His tour of the market's vicinity, which began on ex-Bokassa Avenue and extended through ex-Tombalbay, allowed him to assess the security measures in place for the cleanup efforts. These actions align with directives from President Félix Tshisekedi.

The operation, detailed in a statement by Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Alain Tshilungu on Monday, May 25, seeks to re-establish order, sanitize the central market's surroundings, and improve security along key avenues like Bokassa and Rwakadingi. The Vice Prime Minister was accompanied by Lieutenant General Jules Banza Mwilambwe, Chief of the General Staff, and a Brigadier General responsible for operations and intelligence.
