DRC's Lualaba Region Welcomes First Navigational Buoyage Vessel in Over 40 Years

The maritime transport office serving the Lualaba-Ubundu-Kindu region has received a significant technological upgrade with the acquisition of a new navigational buoyage vessel. This marks the first such vessel for the area in more than four decades, signaling a renewed focus on improving maritime safety and operational efficiency.

Cedric Luc Tchumbu, the technical director of the office, highlighted the substantial benefits this new equipment brings to the Lualaba region and its associated territories. The vessel is designed to deploy and maintain navigational aids, crucial for guiding ships safely through the complex waterways. This upgrade is expected to reduce transit times, minimize the risk of accidents, and support increased commercial traffic.
