Driver Dies in Traffic Accident in Kamnik

A 76-year-old man has died following a traffic accident that occurred on Domžalska cesta in Kamnik, Slovenia, on Thursday morning. The collision involved a passenger car and a truck.

According to preliminary reports from the Ljubljana Police Administration, the elderly driver was traveling from the direction of the Duplica basketball court towards the intersection with the Kamnik bypass. Despite traffic signals indicating a mandatory right turn towards Perovo, the driver turned left onto the priority road.

At that moment, a truck driver, proceeding correctly from the roundabout towards Perovo, collided with the left side of the passenger car. The impact was severe, causing the car to be thrown towards a fence and the embankment of the Kamniška Bistrica river.

The 76-year-old driver sustained critical injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police conducted an on-site investigation, with the participation of an investigating judge and a state prosecutor. Investigations are ongoing to determine all contributing factors to the accident, and the findings will be reported to the state prosecutor's office.
