Drivers face hefty charges for Romanian road vignettes sold on unauthorized Hungarian website

Romanian drivers are being overcharged for mandatory road vignettes when purchasing them through an unauthorized Hungarian website, the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) has warned. The website, evignet24.eu, operated by Hungary's Enternova Kft., is selling vignettes for Romania with substantial markups, sometimes reaching up to 90 euros above the official tariff.

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration has announced that it has identified the online portal evignet24.eu, managed by the Hungarian company Enternova Kft., which sells vignettes for Romania without being authorized by CNAIR to collect the road network usage fee.

CNAIR stated that the portal is not authorized to collect road usage fees. Drivers using the site pay additional significant costs beyond the official vignette price. For passenger cars with a 12-month vignette, the price on evignet24.eu is 76 euros, which is 26 euros more than the legal rate of 50 euros – a 52% increase. For light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tons, the price is 144.5 euros, exceeding the official 114 euros by 30.5 euros (a 26.75% increase).

The most significant price discrepancies are for minibuses (carrying up to 8+1 passengers) and motorhomes or caravans. Furthermore, the site charges 79 euros for trailers weighing up to 1.5 tons, a category for which Romanian legislation does not require a separate vignette fee.

CNAIR stressed that it bears no responsibility for vignette purchases made through unauthorized platforms and strongly recommends drivers use only official channels for their road tax payments.
