Drivers Warned of Traffic Restrictions in Boom Gorge for Rockfall Clearing

BISHKEK: Drivers traversing the vital Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart highway should exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly, as significant road maintenance operations are slated for the Boom Gorge. From April 20th to April 24th, crews will be engaged in clearing rockfalls along the 129th kilometer of this crucial artery connecting northern and southern Kyrgyzstan.

The "Kyrgyz Temir Zholy" state enterprise has announced that these essential safety measures will take place daily between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. During these hours, traffic flow will be partially restricted, with vehicles permitted to pass through on a single lane. This temporary measure is necessary to ensure the safety of both the workers performing the clearing and the motorists using the route.

Recognizing the potential for traffic congestion, the enterprise has implemented a protocol to manage the flow. If more than 30 to 40 vehicles accumulate at the site, the rockfall clearing operations will be temporarily suspended to allow the backlog to clear. This approach aims to minimize disruption while prioritizing the safety and security of the road infrastructure.
