Drone attack causes fire at Russian oil refinery in Ufa

Black smoke billowed over the Bašneft-Ufaneftechim oil refinery in Ufa, Russia, following a reported drone attack early Saturday. Local residents and monitoring channels alerted to drone threats in the Bashkiria region, with reports of explosions.

Region head Radiy Khabirov stated that the drone attack on Ufa was repelled. He explained that smoke in the industrial zone resulted from the debris of a downed drone falling onto the site. Khabirov assured that all special services were on-site and addressing the situation, confirming no fatalities or injuries.

The Bašneft-Ufaneftechim refinery, located in Ufa's northern industrial zone, is part of the Bašneft group, controlled by Rosneft. It processes up to 8.2 million tons of crude oil annually, producing fuels, petroleum coke, and other products. This complex, comprising three major refineries, is one of Russia's largest.

This incident follows previous Ukrainian drone attacks on Ufa's oil refineries, including Bašneft-Ufaneftechim, on June 25. Earlier on Saturday, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviacia, suspended operations at several airports in central and eastern Russia, a common measure typically taken due to potential drone threats.
