Drone Near Misiones Prison Triggers Security Protocol in Paraguay

A security protocol was activated at the Misiones Regional Penitentiary in Paraguay after a drone was detected in its vicinity late Saturday evening. The Ministry of Justice reported that the suspicious drone was observed around 8:30 PM, approximately 100 meters from the prison's security perimeter.

Following the detection, prison guards immediately implemented preventive security measures. The alert was shared with on-duty penitentiary staff, National Police officers stationed outside the facility, and military personnel responsible for perimeter security. Surveillance and control measures in the area were subsequently reinforced.

Despite the security alert, the Ministry of Justice confirmed that the drone left the sector without any prohibited items being introduced, nor were there any security incidents or disturbances to internal order. This follows a recent incident where inmates escaped from Misiones, leading to the confiscation of cell phones from their former cell.

The Ministry of Justice stated that monitoring of the situation continues, along with the implementation of preventive measures to safeguard institutional security.
