Drone pilots sought for rapid response to Rasuwa flood rescue

Drone pilots in Nepal are being called upon to volunteer their skills for critical search and rescue missions following devastating floods in the Rasuwa district.

The Bhotekoshi River overflowed, causing widespread damage and prompting an urgent need for intensified rescue operations. Recognizing the potential of aerial technology, the Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) has initiated the formation of a Drone Rapid Response Team (DRRT).

This initiative aims to mobilize pilots and their equipment to provide crucial support in areas that may be difficult to access by conventional means. Drones can offer real-time aerial surveillance, help locate stranded individuals, and assess damage in the flood-affected regions.

The call for volunteers highlights the growing role of technology in disaster response and the importance of community mobilization during emergencies. The DRRT's deployment is expected to significantly bolster the ongoing efforts to aid those impacted by the floods.
