Drone with explosives found at Leipzig airport, authorities investigating

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has labeled the discovery of a drone with an explosive device at Leipzig Airport as a "form of hybrid attack" and a "very serious security incident." The incident prompted authorities to launch an investigation and temporarily suspend flights at the airport overnight.

Police experts seized the drone and deactivated the explosive device after an X-ray examination. The drone was reportedly found near a Ukrainian Antonov AN-124 Condor transport aircraft. While drone incidents are not uncommon, the presence of an explosive-laden drone near an airport represents a new level of danger, Dobrindt stated.
