Drone wreckage found in Romania near Ukraine border

Debris from a downed drone has been found on a Romanian field close to the Ukrainian border, the Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed, as reported by Reuters. The origin of the drone remains unconfirmed.

According to the Romanian ministry, the drone had been flying within Romanian airspace for approximately 20 minutes before it proceeded into Ukraine, where it was subsequently shot down. The wreckage landed near the Romanian village of Periprava, situated along the Danube River, which forms part of the border with Ukraine. Fortunately, the debris did not cause any damage to the land.

This incident follows a previous event in late July when Romanian F-16 fighter jets intercepted and shot down three Russian drones that had violated Romanian airspace. The recent discovery of drone wreckage underscores ongoing aerial activity and potential security concerns in the border region.
