Drug Driving Suspected in Fatal Truck-Car Collision in Tainan

A fatal accident in Tainan's Xuejia District has claimed the life of a car driver, with police suspecting drug use by the truck driver as the cause. The incident occurred when a large truck, driven by a man identified as Zhuang, veered into the opposite lane while traveling south on Nan 1 Line in Guanghua Village.

The truck collided head-on with a car driven by a man surnamed Guo, who sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. Initially, authorities considered fatigue as a potential cause for the truck driver's actions.

However, a drug test administered by the police revealed a positive result for amphetamines in Zhuang's system. He has been transferred to the Tainan District Prosecutor's Office on charges including public endangerment, negligent homicide, and violating drug control laws. The Xuejia Police Precinct stated they will continue to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and will investigate the source of the drugs, noting that vehicles used in fatal incidents involving drug use will be confiscated and destroyed.
