Woman Cycling Illegally Found After Being Missing for a Year

A routine traffic stop for a cycling violation led to a surprising discovery: a 58-year-old woman, stopped by police in Taipei, had been reported missing by her family for almost a year. The incident unfolded when officers noticed the woman cycling erratically near the Presidential Office.

Initially, the woman, identified as Ms. Chang, claimed to have no identification and expressed a desire to leave quickly due to an appointment. However, police checks revealed she was the subject of a missing person report filed nearly 12 months prior. Sensing a deeper story, officers patiently engaged with her.

Ms. Chang eventually disclosed that she had left home following a significant argument with her family over financial matters.
