Drug-Influenced Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run Accident

A young driver was apprehended in Salmtal after a series of reckless actions, including causing a traffic accident and fleeing the scene. The 24-year-old was driving on the B50 in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district when he veered into the oncoming lane due to excessive speed and suspected drug use. This forced another driver to take evasive action, resulting in significant damage to their vehicle. The driver who caused the incident continued on his way without stopping. Witnesses reported he was speeding excessively. Police located the man in Salmtal, where he admitted to being under the influence of drugs and was found to be in possession of an illegal quantity of narcotics. Authorities launched several criminal investigations, seized his driver's license and the drugs, and took him into temporary custody. His continued driving was prohibited.
