Drug Lord 'Bos Gendut' Apprehended at Jakarta Beauty Salon

Authorities have apprehended a notorious drug kingpin, identified by the alias 'Bos Gendut' (Fat Boss) and initials MR, in a surprising location: a beauty salon in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta. The arrest by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Wednesday night marks the end of a manhunt for the individual who had been a fugitive since November 2025.

'Bos Gendut' is a significant figure in the Kampung Bahari drug trade and was wanted in connection with drug trafficking, possession of firearms, and gold bars. According to BNN Director of Enforcement and Pursuit, Brig. Gen. Roy Hardy Siahaan, the suspect was involved in cases concerning 98 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

He is a fugitive related to a drug case on November 7, 2025, under the name MR or Bos Gendut, a drug lord entrenched in Kampung Bahari.

The BNN's investigation has extended to alleged money laundering activities. To date, authorities have seized approximately R$1.277 billion in cash and assets valued at an estimated R$39.950 billion from the suspect. This extensive seizure points to the scale of the alleged illicit operations.

During interrogation, 'Bos Gendut' reportedly implicated several individuals in his network. Acting on this information, the BNN, in collaboration with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, conducted raids in Kampung Bahari. These operations faced resistance from the kingpin's loyalists, resulting in injuries to at least one police officer. The BNN also confiscated various items, including marijuana, firearms, a samurai sword, ammunition, mobile phones, and vehicles.
