Drug lord 'Bos Gendut' arrested at Jakarta beauty salon

National Narcotics Agency (BNN) officers have arrested a prominent drug lord, identified by the alias 'Bos Gendut' or MR, at a beauty salon in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta. The arrest occurred on Wednesday evening, August 12th.

The individual we successfully apprehended at a beauty salon, and he is now with us at BNN.

Brig. Gen. Roy Hardy Siahaan, Director of Enforcement and Pursuit at BNN, stated that officers tracked 'Bos Gendut' after he left Kampung Bahari, a known drug trafficking hub, and proceeded to Mangga Besar. "We successfully apprehended the individual at a beauty salon, and he is now with us at BNN," Roy told reporters on Thursday.

'Bos Gendut' is a fugitive wanted in connection with a drug case on November 7, 2025, involving the possession of 98 kilograms of methamphetamine, firearms, and gold bars. Following his arrest, BNN investigators developed information leading to the seizure of assets valued at approximately Rp39.95 billion, including Rp1.277 billion in cash.

One of the drug lords, a fugitive related to a drug case on November 7, 2025, named MR or Bos Gendut, is a drug lord or boss who is entrenched in Kampung Bahari.

Based on 'Bos Gendut's' confession about other individuals involved in his network, BNN, in collaboration with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, conducted raids in Kampung Bahari on Thursday morning. During these operations, police seized various items including marijuana, cash, firearms, a samurai sword, ammunition, mobile phones, and vehicles.

From the development of this individual, Bos Gendut or MR, we have been able to develop the money laundering aspect, which we have successfully seized. There is cash of Rp1.277 billion, then developed into several assets that we have calculated at approximately Rp39.950 billion.

Roy Hardy Siahaan reported that the raids were met with resistance from 'Bos Gendut's' loyalists in Kampung Bahari. This resistance resulted in one police officer sustaining an injury below the eye. Despite the confrontation, authorities managed to apprehend two individuals during the operation, in addition to the initial arrest of 'Bos Gendut'.
