Drug Trafficking Hub Raided in Fernando de la Mora

A coordinated anti-drug operation in the Cerrito neighborhood of Fernando de la Mora has led to the dismantling of a suspected drug-trafficking hub, with three individuals detained and significant quantities of narcotics seized. The operation, a collaboration between the specialized anti-narcotics department of the National Police and officers from Comisaría 2ª, targeted a property identified as a local drug-selling point.

During the raid, conducted on Friday afternoon at a residence on Herminio Giménez street, authorities apprehended two individuals and arrested a woman with an outstanding arrest warrant. The seized items included crack cocaine, marijuana, firearms, bladed weapons, and cash. The operation was supervised by anti-drug prosecutor Rodrigo Espínola.

According to Officer Manuel Báez of Comisaría 2ª, the intervention stemmed from anonymous citizen complaints about suspected drug sales in the area. Adding to the authorities' concern, the property was located just four blocks from an educational institution, highlighting the potential impact of the illicit activity on young people. Among those detained were Julio Adalberto Arrúa Fleitas, 23, who has prior records for aggravated robbery and drug possession, and Ivanna Nair Melgarejo Rubira, 22. Benita Fleita, 59, was arrested on an active warrant for fraud and also has past drug-related offenses.
