Drugs Spread Through Lodging Houses and Streets as Khanh Hoa Police Break Up Multiple Cases

A rented room in Bắc Nha Trang became the focus of a drug investigation after police caught a 32-year-old man carrying a plastic bag and a straw suspected of containing crystal methamphetamine. The arrest on Aug. 26 led investigators to two alleged suppliers from Tây Nha Trang.

Police searched the homes of the two suspected sellers and seized 13 plastic straws containing suspected crystal methamphetamine and heroin, along with drug-use equipment. One of the suspects also handed over a bag of crystal methamphetamine and two bags of heroin. Investigators later identified a 31-year-old person without a stable residence who allegedly used drugs with the group. Tests showed the people involved were positive for methamphetamine.

A separate case emerged during a residence inspection at a rented house in Tân Hưng village, Nam Ninh Hòa commune, on Sept. 1. Two people, aged 21 and 22, voluntarily handed over several plastic bags. Their initial statements indicated that they had bought drugs for personal use and resale. One said the other delivered the drugs to buyers and received 200,000 Vietnamese dong for each delivery.

Further inquiries identified two alleged buyers. Rapid tests found three people positive for ketamine, and Nam Ninh Hòa commune police continued preparing the case and verifying related details. In another case, police in Hòa Trí commune identified a 27-year-old resident allegedly using drugs. The provincial investigative police agency has opened a criminal case and prosecuted the suspect over illegal drug use.

Khanh Hoa police say they are combining investigations into drug-selling locations and networks with closer monitoring of people who have completed rehabilitation. The stated goal is to create areas free of drugs.
