Drunk Man Wielding Gun Sparks Panic in Bade; Police Apprehend Suspect, Seize Gas Gun

A man carrying a gas-powered gun caused panic in Bade District, Taoyuan City, on Sunday evening, leading to his swift arrest by local police. The incident began when a resident posted on social media platform Threads, expressing fear after witnessing a man behaving erratically and holding what appeared to be a firearm.

The post quickly drew attention from local residents, who shared concerns about the man's actions. Responding to the report, officers from the Bade Police Precinct's Siwei Station arrived at the scene shortly before 10 p.m. They initiated a search of the surrounding area and quickly located the 34-year-old man, identified by the surname Lin, who appeared disoriented.

During the investigation, police determined that Lin was under the influence of alcohol and was carrying a gas-powered gun, which is not capable of causing lethal harm. Officers reprimanded him for causing alarm with the weapon. He was subsequently taken to the police station for further processing.

Lin was charged under Article 65 of the Social Order Maintenance Act for carrying a "dangerous item" without a justifiable reason. The Bade Police Precinct stated that they will not tolerate any behavior that endangers public safety and are committed to maintaining order.
