DSS rescues four kidnapped Kaura-Namoda Polytechnic students

Four students from the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were kidnapped in June, have been safely rescued by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with other security agencies in Zamfara State. The rescued students were reportedly released unharmed, and no ransom was paid.

The students, comprising three males and three females, were abducted on June 3, 2026, from their off-campus residence in the Low-cost area of Kaura Namoda town. Armed bandits attacked the building and took six individuals away. Following the earlier release of two students, security operatives launched an intelligence-led operation to secure the freedom of the remaining victims.

The operation successfully led to the safe rescue of the four students, bringing significant relief to the institution and their families. However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, stated he was unaware of the reported rescue. The police spokesman did not provide further details regarding this development.

This rescue marks a positive outcome after the initial abduction, highlighting the efforts of security agencies in Zamfara State. The institution and the families of the students can now breathe a sigh of relief, though the police's lack of awareness raises questions about inter-agency communication.
