Dubai universities enhance student support for new academic year amid regional concerns

As the new academic year begins, universities across Dubai are prioritizing student integration and support, implementing extended orientation programs and dedicated services to help students settle in, maintain connections, and feel secure from the start.

This enhanced approach acknowledges the broader regional situation, with institutions stressing their preparedness to adjust support mechanisms should circumstances evolve. At Canadian University Dubai (CUD), the focus is on cultivating an environment where students feel both academically prepared and socially and emotionally supported. Rami El Khatib, Vice President of Student Affairs, confirmed that classrooms and facilities are ready, complemented by a suite of services designed with the "whole student" in mind.

Students will access academic and transition support through the Success Centre and First Year Experience, while counseling and health services will address wellbeing needs. Career Services will focus on professional development and employability, alongside sports, recreation, and student engagement opportunities.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai Campus, will largely maintain its existing structure for orientation, timetables, transportation, and accommodation. However, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. S. Shamanna noted that the university has made extra efforts to stay connected with students and their families, especially amid recent regional volatility. This includes proactive outreach to prospective students who were unable to visit the campus.
