Dublin pensioner likely murdered, body disposed of, gardaí believe

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of 67-year-old Charlie “Lachy” Clarke suspect he was murdered and his body disposed of to cover up the crime. Clarke has been missing from his Dublin home for over five weeks, with his family only recently reporting him missing.

Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances around the disappearance of a male – aged in his 60s – who was reported missing from the Dublin 8 area, on Sunday.

Detectives arrested a person of interest in connection with the case, but the individual was later released without charge. Gardaí have sealed off a residential property in the Liberties area for forensic examination, suspecting the killing occurred there late last month. The primary focus remains on locating Mr. Clarke's remains.

The family, including siblings and children, expressed growing concern after being unable to contact him for weeks. They initiated their own inquiries before filing a missing person's report. Garda Headquarters confirmed an investigation into the disappearance of a male in his 60s from the Dublin 8 area.
