The Dutch Football Association has lodged a formal complaint with prosecutors following a wave of racist messages directed at Black players after the national team's World Cup elimination. The abuse surfaced on social media after the Netherlands lost to Morocco in a penalty shootout.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte commented on the situation, stating he expected the public prosecutor's office to take the necessary legal actions to serve as a lesson to others. He described the events following the match as "completely unacceptable."
